BIO

Robynn Rodriguez grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a teenager, she began seeing plays at San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater. She was inspired by the work of Artistic Director, William Ball and the artists that worked with him there. Seeing plays at ACT planted a seed. For Robynn, to be a part of a resident company of theater artists would be a dream come true.

After two years at Cal State Chico, Robynn began her actor training at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Maria, California. Robynn began to thrive under the profound leadership Donovan Marley and Barbara Sellers. After PCPA, she returned to San Francisco to receive training at ACT, where eventually, she received her MFA.

For 22 seasons, she was a member of the resident acting company at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She appeared in over 40 productions. Her body of work includes playing powerful women in Shakespeare, as well as in the plays of Chekhov, Ibsen, Shaw, Euripides and Aeschylus. In addition to the classics, Robynn is equally at home in contemporary plays. She especially loves being on the ground floor of new work.

In including her years at OSF, Robynn’s work has been seen at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Public Theater, Guthrie Theater, Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Arizona Theatre Company, Denver Center Theatre Company, Intiman Theatre, The Shakespeare Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse and many others. Internationally, Robynn represented OSF in 1994 at the prestigious 43rd Annual Festival des Jeux du Theatre in Sarlat, France. In the UK, she appeared in roles written by celebrated British playwright, David Edgar, at The Barbican (London) and Birmingham Rep.

Robynn began directing professionally in 2013. Her directing work is a creative extension of her passionate work as an actor.
